Las Vegas already has annual festivals celebrating everything from EDM raves to Elvis. Now a local business wants to add cannabis to that list.
Dr. Reefer, a Henderson-based group that provides medical marijuana information and recommendations, announced the first annual Las Vegas HempFest will take place Oct. 4 at the Clark County Amphitheater.
Styled after Seattle’s own HempFest, organizers tout the festival as “a gathering of the medical marijuana activists and supporters in the movement to legalize marijuana.” Seattle HempFest, which calls itself a “protestival,” takes place each August on the Seattle Waterfront and attracts attendees in the hundreds of thousands. It features recreation areas called Ganja Gardens, Hempsterdam, and Cannabis Cove and claims to be the largest gathering of its kind in the world.
HempFest is a celebration of the progressive growth of the hemp & cannabis culture. These are revolutionary events that happen across the country throughout the year. The most common celebration date is on 4/20, the core date behind the cannabis communities fruit of celebration. The purpose of the HempFest is to provide members of the marijuana world to come together, network, collaborate, and fight towards growth of the culture!
The festival, billed as an “all ages” event, will feature a number of musical and comedy acts. Live performances include Berner, Sen Dog from Cypress Hill, Baby Bash, Potluck, Westside Connection, Marlon Asher, and much much more!!!! Speakers include a number of marijuana legalization activists as well as Nevada gubernatorial candidate David Vanderbeek and Assembly District 13 candidate Christine Kramar.
No Nevada medical card is needed for entry, in fact they are stating that Nevada State law accepts and honors all states medical marijuana cards.
